Maughan Banks
Dancer
Maughan commenced dancing in Brisbane at the Beverly Parker Academy of Dance. At 16 she was accepted to the Academy des Tanzes Mannheim where she studied for 5 years. In 2009 she completed a diploma in Arts, and in 2010 Maughan finished her studies with a Masters of Arts (Dance/Performance). While studying at the university she also danced with the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe.
Following her time in Germany she returned to Australia and spent some time with Queensland Ballet’s Professional Year program under the direction of François Klaus and Robyn White. During this time she danced in many productions with Queensland Ballet, including Gareth Belling's Scorched Earth, while also working with Melbourne Ballet Company. In 2013 Maughan started working with Singapore Dance Theatre and after two years, was promoted to First Artist. While working with the company she danced with many world renowned choreographers and had the opportunity to perform a variety of styles and works. Some include Incomparable Beauty by Ma Cong, Swipe by Val Caniparoli, Bournonville Divertissements staged by Dinna Bjorn and Don Quixote by Cynthia Harvey.
