Violin

Australian violinist Camille Barry has performed as a solo, chamber and orchestral musician throughout Australia, and across the UK and Europe. Camille at age 18 completed her Bachelor of Music under the tutelage of Elizabeth Morgan, OAM; commencing studies at the Queensland Conservatorium at the early age of 15.

There, Camille was the recipient of many scholarships and prizes, including winning the Paganini Prize, and the Matilda Jane Aplin scholarship. She was awarded a scholarship to undertake Postgraduate study at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. From 2008-12, studying with Malcolm Layfield and Levon Chilingirian, she completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Violin Performance and a Masters of Music, both with Distinction. She was awarded the RNCM's prestigious Philip Newman Award, for outstanding achievement during her postgraduate studies. She has accrued success in numerous national and international competitions; the Gisborne International Music Competition, the South East QLD Concerto Competition, the RNCM Concerto competition, and was the recipient of the the Australian Music Examination Board's Sydney May Memorial Scholarship at only 13.

Featuring as a soloist with numerous orchestras, including Liverpool's Philharmonic Orchestra, and the RNCM's Chamber and Symphony Orchestras, Camille is in demand as a freelance session, chamber and orchestral musician, having performed widely throughout Australia and the UK. In 2014, Camille joined Collusion Music & Dance Ensemble. She currently balances a busy freelance performing career with teaching positions at Griffith University’s Young Conservatorium & Brisbane Girls’ Grammar School.

Camille plays a very fine Eugenio Degani violin, made in 1897.
