Benjamin Greaves

Benjamin Greaves is a Violinist and Creative of Collusion Music & Dance Ensemble. He has enjoyed a successful portfolio career as a chamber, orchestral, solo, recording musician, pedagog and producer, all while creating dynamic, brave and authentic intersections of art, music and dance with Collusion for 15 years. As violinist he has appeared onstage at Queensland Symphony, Camerata, Queensland Ballet, Circa, Opera Queensland and at the Adelaide Cabaret, Brisbane, Queensland Music, Sydney, Crossbows, Restrung, Australian Chamber Music, Soul Food, X, Tyalgum and Bangalow Festivals. He has recital broadcast for ABC Classics.

With Collusion, he’s recorded and co-produced 5 CDs on both the MOVE and independent Collusion labels receiving National and International airplay. International studies were taken in the Czech Republic and Belgium along with studies at the Australian National Academy of Music under tutors such as Oleh Krysa and Rudolf Koelman. As an undergraduate he studied with acclaimed violinists Carmel Kaine and Mary Nemet, becoming a Westpac scholarship holder upon completion of studies. He is an alumni of several International Australian Youth Orchestra seasons and performed solo in masterclasses for Lord Yehudi Menuhin & Maxim Vengerov. With a dedication to music education (forever inspired by dedicated educators Leisa and Jenny Greaves) many of Ben’s past and current young violin students have won local competitions and prizes; participated in Australian Youth Orchestra programs; several going on to complete tertiary music degrees.
In his position as a part-time tutor of violin, viola at "Churchie" Anglican Church Grammar School he practises string pedagogy and ensemble direction on a regular basis.
Benjamin is currently studying a Masters of Fine Arts in Cultural Leadership at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA).
